Abstract
Transformers are the crucial part of generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy. Transformers often suffer failure due to internal discharges which is due to number of reasons. One of such reasons is existence of conducting particles. When comes in tact with energized winding disc, stress is formed on the particle. Transformer oil is used as coolant and insulation. Oil can be non-directed and directed in system. These two factors are crucial in deciding the internal discharges. This paper deals with the impact of material of the particle in sludge formation and internal discharges in accordance to the flow pattern.
