ORGANIZATION OF ACTIVITIES OF PUBLIC AUTHORITIES IN THE EVENT OF EMERGENCY SITUATIONS

The article reveals the essence of the concept of «emergency», its specifics and normative consolidation. Issues related to the protection of the population and territories from emergencies, response to emergencies, counteraction and elimination of their consequences are covered. On the basis of the current legislation the mechanism of coordination and interaction of subjects of the state and non-state sectors on technogenic and ecological safety and emergency situations in Ukraine is defined. The efficiency and functioning of the organization of public administration for the implementation of measures to improve the technogenic and ecological situation in individual regions of Ukraine and ensure technogenic and ecological safety in general are analyzed. Attention is drawn to the existing problems in this area of public authorities and the need to build a modern system of civil protection of the state at all levels.
