Abstract

The advent of virtual learning has solved a number of bottlenecks in modern education. In fact, between 2019 and 2021, millions of learners, teachers and academic institutions around the world switched to virtual mode of learning, especially due to the prevalence of Corona Virus Pandemic. While acknowledging several breakthroughs emanating from the usage of virtual learning, there are issues that cannot be ignored, termed in this research as the “black box puzzles” of virtual learning. Three of such issues are the one-way evaluation puzzle, logon deception puzzle and the fraudulent search puzzle. First, this work presents an unambiguous outline of the puzzles. This research is based on practical case of virtual teaching of Object Oriented Programming, a 400 Level Undergraduate Computer Science course at Babcock University. Relevant datasets were captured during virtual learning and analysed accordingly. Results were presented using visualization tools, and discussed as part of the overall evaluation of the work. Some of the visual outputs are attendance graph, delay response graph, and throughputs chart. Procedural solutions for tackling the research problems were discussed, and recommendations made for improved solutions in future works. The importance of this research cannot be overemphasized, since ignoring the subject matter could affect the reliability of academic outputs from virtual learning
