Abstract
This study paper aims to present research practice in literary studies, a distinct course of study of literature in humanities and social sciences. Researchers select a text (e.g. a novel), raise a thematic issue in the text, and then explore a theory related to that issue. They apply that theory in the text and analyses the thematic issue with reference to that text.
