Abstract
The article attempts to give an independent analysis of the meaning of Plato's doctrine of the ideal state. The authors highly appreciate the activities of the ancient Greek scientist in his attempts to build a model of an effective state built on the principles of social justice. The work indicates the positive and negative aspects of the teachings of Plato, emphasizes its importance for the development of modern philosophical and political thought.
