Abstract

In today's fast-paced world of multimedia technology, it becomes difficult to provide authentic data and protect confidential information from unauthorized use. A widely used technology to protect the digital data is a watermarking method. If authorized users only have access to the data then that data must be watermarked. Digital watermarking is the process of embedding confidential data into real information. Digital watermarking methods can be classified into three main categories, depending on the domain, document type (text, image, music, or video), and human perception. Peak signal to noise ratio, mean square error and bit error rate are used to evaluate the performance of watermarking methods. Watermarking methods have been extensively researched for their unique and advanced tools in all media applications such as copyright protection, medical reports (MRI scan and X-ray), citation, and privacy control. In this paper, current trends in digital image watermarking methods are reviewed to find cutting-edge techniques and their limitations. Similarly, various attacks to these watermarking methods are discussed
