Abstract

Image steganography is a process used to conceal information. The information can be in different forms like photo, video, or audio. Different algorithms are used in steganography and they provide a good amount of concealment and low detection. In this paper we hide the picture in the cover picture using the Fractional Random Wavelet Transform (FRWT) and using the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and compare which algorithm gives the best results. The embedding and extracting phases of the proposed steganography algorithms are performed using the MATLAB software. The statistical distortion between the cover images and the stego images is measured by using the Mean Square Error (MSE) and the Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). The higher the PSNR value, lower the distortion, also lower the MSE value, clearer is the extracted secret and stego image. There is no degradation in quality from the hidden image to the extracted image as the PSNR is high for both. This process was done using both FRWT and DWT and the results prove that the FRWT process is more efficient than the DWT method because it offers higher PSNR values and lower MSE values. The result by varying frequency bands and embedding coefficient are computed. The eventual outcomes, subsequent to contrasting every one of the factors, demonstrate that the proposed algorithm at FRWT is very effective as compared to DWT
