Abstract

Homeopathy carries with it the idea of " let the like be treated with the like." It was founded by Samuel Hahnemann in the late 18th century, although similar concepts existed earlier. Homeopathy became popular in the 19th century in part because of its success in epidemics, but declined in the twentieth century due to the development of new methods of traditional medicine. However, its popularity returns in the late 20th and early 21st centuries in many parts of the world. This course is controversial due to the fact that it uses highly diluted drugs. There is a significant body of clinical research, including randomized clinical trials and meta-analysis of such studies, that suggests that homeopathy has an effect that is not a placebo effect, but it is still small compared to traditional medicine. Despite a long history of scientific controversy, homeopathy has proved resilient and is now widespread. The aim of the work is to analyze the historical formation of homeopathy, to compare the main periods of its development with traditional medicine.
