Abstract

The article examines the features of improving the conceptual and institutional foundations of democ- racy in the context of increasing globalization. The paper notes that the specifics of the modern moment of his- torical development is that the geopolitical picture of the world has changed at an unprecedented rate. This situa- tion is largely due to the state of globalization processes. Therefore, the dynamics of world changes is directly related to the growth of unprecedented intensity of globalization as a mega trend on a planetary scale. As noted by the author, unfortunately, along with the increase in intensity, the contradictions of globalization are felt more and more. Moreover, globalization has not led to the unity of the modern world on the principles of liberalism. In this regard, humanity is faced with the fact that, under the influence of uncontrollable and inadequate to the requirements of modern democracy, globalization has become more a factor of democratic processes on a global scale. There are no and cannot be standards of democracy in the world. Moreover, those states that claim the right to be the “teacher” of democracy, as usual, offer other parties only minimalist perspectives of democracy. In such cases, the development of the ideas of democracy and democratization based on the own socio-cultural foundations of each nation comes to the fore. The article gives priority to the democratic processes in Uzbekistan, which take place on the basis of an innova- tive policy for the formation and development of an effective and modern model of democracy. The author notes that the growth of prosperity, the expansion of freedoms and the protection of citizens' rights are the main goals of democratic reforms in the country
