The Study on Mainstream Teachers and Special Educator’s Attitude towards Inclusive Education

Abstract

Inclusive education means all children come under a signal learning environment and give special importance in their needs. In the present study the investigators want to study the mainstream teachers and special educator's attitude towards Inclusive Education with regard to their age, gender, habitat, years of teaching experience and type of institutions. This study was a survey research. Investigators selected 70 sample from the government aided mainstream school and 30 sample from the special school of Kolkata metropolitan city in West Bengal. The samples were collected by purposive sampling technique. The ‘Multidimensional Attitude towards Inclusive Education Scale' (MATIES) was used in the study. The scale developed by Marian Mahat (2008) and was translated and culturally adopted in Bengali language by Nanda (2008). Data have analyzed with the help of descriptive statistics like- mean, SD, Std. Deviation, Std. Error etc. and inferential statistics like t- test, one-way ANOVA. Result revealed that there is significance difference in teacher's attitude towards inclusive education with regard to their habitat and there is no significance difference in teacher's attitude towards inclusive education with regard to their age, gender, year of teaching experience and type of institutions.
