Abstract
This paper is a philosophic discourse on the person of the teacher, and how the teacher can effectuate effective service delivery in his teaching profession. In the discourse, the teacher is considered as the main focus of change and anchor in the process of teaching and learning. The paper highlighted the necessity to distinguish between teaching as an enterprise and as a process. It posed a fundamental question on who should teach. The paper contended to submit that the key variables in effective service delivery in the teaching profession could be known when the teacher exhibits his right intention to teach, uses appropriate method to deliver his lessons, and teaching content that is worthwhile. Based on the above articulation, a conclusion was drawn.
