Abstract
The author explores the terms “identification”, “identity” in the profession of preschool teachers as an arbitrary and as a manageable process. The article presents the results of surveys conducted to define the students` representations of “the image of a professional preschool teacher”. The qualification requirements claimed to a preschool teacher, approved by the Federal State Educational Standard of preschool education (Russia), are listed in the article. Along with techniques of the psychosynthesis and the reality therapy, the author reveals the benefits of the narrative approach as a basis for the identity formation. Some maps of narrative practices are used to compose the questions for students` group discussions during practical psychological trainings and seminars.
