Abstract

The aim of the study is investigating the integration of robotics studies into STEM practice in secondary school science labs. The study, consisting of 48 experiments and 48 control groups, was conducted in a private school in Istanbul in the first semester of the 2015-2016 academic year. In the study, experiments were performed in the classical science laboratory in the control group and in the robotics, laboratory using the robotics (Lego Mindstorms EV3) studying set in the experimental group. Academic Achievement Test, STEM Attitude Questionnaire, Robotic Opinion Questionnaire and Motivation Scale for Science Learning were used determine the effect of robotics on students& #039, achievement, motivation and attitudes. The pre and post-test results to determine the success status showed a significant increase in the experimental group compared to the control group. As a result of the study, students in the experimental group who were educated with robotic-assisted science experiments showed increased motivation for learning science, academic achievement, attitudes towards STEM compared to control group students. As a conclusion, it has been determined that robotics-based laboratory applications have many positive contributions to science education.
