Abstract
The paper is an attempt to know the rural service centres of Karnal district on the basis of rural services provided at village-level. On the basis of services provided and weightage score, varying orders of rural service centres have been demarcated. With the passage of time, continuous move from lower order to higher order class has led to change from rural to urban area. The overall picture is that I order order or higher order centres are increasing in number and lower order centres are diminishing due to the continuous development of the region and its impact on the surrounding rural regions of the district.
