Abstract
Academic performance of students depends on their self-esteem and the established relationships. The study revealed that students academic achievement is highly affected by their self-esteem. Students with high self-esteem post the highest grades. Descriptive research design was used which accurately described the association between variables minimising bias while maximising the reliability of the data. Using descriptive and inferential statistics the collected data was analysed with the aid of statistical package for social sciences (SPSS Version 21
