Abstract
The all-round nutritional status of aquaculture candidate can be augured by the application of medicinal herbs. In the present work nutritional status of freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii was assessed subsequent to Curcuma longa oral supplementation. Three main bioactive ingredients selected were Curcumin, Demethoxy curcumin and Bisdemethoxy curcumin. subsequent to 60 days of feed supplementation morphometric analysis, nutritional indices and feed utilization parameters were assessed. The prawns were challenged with Vibrio harveyi on the 61st days, antioxidant assays were also evaluated. Relative percentage survival (RPS) was also calculated. From the experiment it was clear that Curcumin incorporated diet shown excellent nutritional status comparative to Demethoxy curcumin and Bisdemethoxy curcumin.
