Abstract
This research aims to examine the differences of students critical thinking viewed from different motivation for achievement between the two groups. The research used quasi experimental design, with experimental group given PBL treatment and control group given group discussion treatment. The research result data is analyzed by Multivariate Analysis of Variance. The research results showed that (1) there are differences of students critical thinking, as well as (2) there are no interactions between learning strategy and motivation for achievement on the critical thinking ability. Students taught by PBL or have higher motivation for achievement obtain optimal value.
