Abstract

An axi-symmetric thermal analysis on the cooling channels of a regenerative cooled cryogenic engine nozzle is carried out. Taylor Galerkin Finite Element Method is used as a means for spatial& time discretization of the energy equation in cylindrical coordinate system. Numerically simulated results for temperature distribution in the nozzle wall is obtained for a given set of mass flow rate of coolant and hot gas side heat transfer coefficients, set as boundary conditions. The results obtained are used to determine the optimum mass flow rate of coolant required for the proper functioning of the engine.
