Abstract
In this paper, we present a typical RC snubber circuit design procedure for a phase controlled thyristor by considering reverse recovery process. In the snubber circuit design of high power electronic circuits, the reverse recovery process of the thyristor must be taken into consideration in order to calculate maximum device stress, maximum reverse, maximum reverse reverse energy loss of the power device and total turn-off of the device. In this paper, thyristor turn-off model is used to analyze the transient behavior of the thyristor during reverse recovery process. Utilizing the Pspice result analysis, a systematic RC snubber circuit design approach is described for a given thyristor
