Abstract
The purpose of this study is to assess the relationship and impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on teacher engagement (TE). Data from a cross-sectional study of 324 teachers serving in India were analysed. The participants completed the self-developed ICT questionnaire and teacher engagement scale. The ICT scale measures the availability of ICT infrastructure, support available and its usage in institutes for pedagogical purposes. Regression analysis showed that ICT was positively associated with TE, and had a significant impact on TE. As mentioned earlier, this study is cross-sectional in nature. Further research with longitudinal and experimental studies needs to be carried out to support the results. Regular workshops for teachers can be conducted regarding the usage of ICT. Higher Educational Institutions must incorporate latest ICT in their campuses and become more advanced in terms of technology infrastructure.
