TELMISARTAN PLUS ATORVASTATIN INFLUENCE ON ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION COMBINED WITH OBESITY AND NONALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE

Aim. The aim was to evaluate the effect of the combination of telmisartan and atorvastatin on the clinical course of hypertension combined with obesity and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Material and Methods. Twenty patients with stage II hypertension combined with obesity and NAFLD, who were hospitalized with the onset of the disease, were studied. In these patients comparative analysis of hemodynamic and biochemical parameters before and after treatment was performed. Results and Discussion. The results showed that after 12 weeks of treatment a significant improvement of the general condition of the patients was achieved. Complaints on pain in the nape of the neck and frontal area of head, the discomfort in the heart, dizziness and palpitations had decreased. Dizziness and tinnitus in patients had stopped, their sleep became normalized. Appointment of such patients in the telmisartan combined therapy with atorvastatin significantly reduced the levels of total cholesterol (p<0,001), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (p<0,01), and triglycerides (p<0,01). Also this combination of medication has helped to reduce (p<0,001) blood pressure (systolic - from 159,7±0,94 to 139±0,66 mm Hg, diastolic - from 94,7±0,69 to 79,7±0,39 mm Hg), reducing the size of the left atrium (p<0,05) and, respectively, and increased the ejection fraction from 57,27±1,02 to 58,67±0,84%. Conclusions. The combination of telmisartan and atorvastatin in the treatment of hypertension combined with obesity and NAFLD for 12 weeks has shown a positive effect on the physical condition of these patients due to the maintenance of optimal blood pressure and has improved heart hemodynamics.
