Abstract
Cobalt ferrite nanoparticles were synthesized using co-precipitation method. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by using techniques such as X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Using XRD data, Williamson-Hall method were used to calculate strain and crystallite size. Lattice constant and density were calculated using XRD data. The force constants for octahedral and tetrahedral sites were determined by FTIR analysis. Elastic constants were calculated using FTIR and XRD data. The calculated values of longitudinal, bulk, rigidity and Young modulus are 181 GPa, 60 GPa, 100 GPa and 150 GPa respectively. The value of Poisson's ratio (σ) is 0.25. These synthesized nanoparticles has potential for industrial applications.
