HEALTH-SAVING BEHAVIOR OF EXTREME SPECIALISTS AS A FACTOR IN PREVENTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROFESSIONAL BURNOUT

Abstract

The article discusses the results of a study devoted to identifying the relationship between health-saving behavior and professional burnout of extreme specialists. The study involved 64 people who were divided into two groups. The first group included 31 military personnel of the missile forces, with an average age of 28.5 years and an average experience in the profession of 5.4 years. The second group included 33 firefighters, the average age of 31.5 years and the average experience in the profession of 5.5 years. The study revealed no significant differences in the indicators of methods that identify the severity of professional burnout symptoms, and the indicators of methods that determine of healthsaving behavior components formation. The sample of military personnel and firefighters participating in the study is characterized by a low and average level of severity of professional burnout symptoms and an average, close to high level of components of health-saving behavior formation. Analysis of the elements of the health concept indicates that the majority of respondents soldiers and firefighters tend to give a positive rating for their health, to give it an important place in their system of values and to be considered the main criterion of its existence the happiness feeling; characterized by professionals for taking care of their health, learning new ways of protecting and maintaining that primarily implemented through the formation of a healthy lifestyle. The results of mathematical and statistical processing of empirical data showed the presence of a relationship between the components of HSB and professional burnout. Thus, the hypothesis of the relationship between the indicators of the attitudes and patterns of health-saving behavior formation and the severity of professional burnout in extreme specialists was confirmed. The revealed patterns will be useful in the development of programs aimed at preserving the professional health of extreme specialists with the inclusion of health-saving behavior patterns as targets of correctional work.
