General information about English literature

In any work of fine literature, we distinguish two necessary elements: objective - the reproduction of phenomena given outside of the artist, and subjective - something that the artist has put into the work from himself. Dwelling on a comparative assessment of these two elements, the theory in different eras attaches greater importance to one or the other of them (in connection with the course of the development of art, and with other circumstances).
