Abstract

After the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923, the Western Thrace Turks, left to the rule of Greece, remained an official minority. In this process (regardless of political opinion), all Greek governments have always pursued a policy of assimilation of Western Thrace Turks. Western Thrace Turks were naturally in a struggle against these pressures, which were concentrated in political, religious, legal, economic, cultural, social and educational fields. In this study, women and their successes and their positions in the social struggle of Western Thrace Turks in Greece and diaspora were discussed. Literature review has been done about the subject; a part of the women who were told about their struggle was also contacted and their opinions about the subject were taken into consideration.
