Abstract

In the provinces of the Ottoman Empire, the relationship of central treasury with tax collectors and tax sources, which pervaded the whole eighteenth century, paved the way for the emergence of the administrative cracks as well as the visibility of the certain local elements that exploited these areas for their own interest. Due to the changes occurring in the function of the manorial system, the rayah was obliged to create legitimate or illegitimate relations with these exploitative people, who had a wider human network in the region and who possessed the power and influence as local authorities. This study, which attempts to examine the aforementioned process through the relation of female members of the dynasty with the sources of income, aims to make certain determinations regarding their relations built around a specific income source and Ottoman provincial administrative structure.
