Abstract
The bark is exposed to the environment for reaction with air pollutants as it provides a very large surface area next to leaves. Biomonitoring by the help of bark is economic and effective methods. Considering this, season-wise a comparative study has been made for the accumulation of sulphate and nitrate in the stem bark of Acacia nilotica L.and Mangifera indica L. at the different polluted area of Indore city and was compared by control area. The study shows the maximum sulphate and nitrate accumulation in Mangifera indica. in winter i.e. 48.3 mg kg -1 at VPA and 24.4 mg kg -1 at IPA in the summer season respectively. The study revealed the maximum % increase of sulphate accumulation i.e. 98.76 % in winter at VPA in Mangifera indica while it was 88.75 % in Acacia nilotica at MPA and IPA in rainy season while in nitrate it was found to be maximum in Mangifera indica at IPA i.e. 93.65 % in the summer season.
