Peculiarities of Sustainable Management of the Development of the Forestry Complex of the Transcarpathian Region

The article considers the peculiarities of sustainable management of the development of the forestry complex of the region. The main directions related to the improvement of forest management and the use of forest resources on the basis of non-exhaust forest use have been described. The effect of principles, criteria and indicators on rational management of forests of the region in systems and nature use and nature protection activities in the context of ensuring sustainable development of forest resources taking into account regional principles - economic, environmental, social and spiritual – have been substantiated. The emphasis has been put on the implementation of a comprehensive approach in the field of forestry in order to balance the use of all raw material qualities of forest resources and components of the environment. It has been recognized that the defining features of complexity in the forest resource sphere are: territoriality, interdependence, interconnectedness, multicomponental and systematic character, synergy. The importance of implementation on the territory of the forest lands of the region of promising Swiss-Ukrainian project FORZA aimed at the development of multifunctional forestry, approaching the nature of the forestry and reducing the pressure on the environment during logging, maintaining forest functions, increasing the production of forest products and services, as well as reconstruction of forest plantations influenced by environmental and biotic factors. The article outlines the directions of rational forest management and increase of the role of the forest sector in the state and the region on the basis of generalization of the main tasks set forth in the Concept of reformation and development of forestry of Ukraine approved by the Cabinet of Ministers (2006). In particular, the necessity of ensuring efficient use of forests and forest resources as the determinative factors of sustainable social and economic development of the region and life support of the population has been emphasized. In the course of the research, the strategic objectives of the forestry complex development in the region have been envisaged, which include forest management exclusively on a scientific basis, in order to implement a unified organizational and technical policy on the use of forest resources and reforestation, the application of nature conservation technologies and the implementation of ecological approaches in forest management, ensuring the basic principle of forestry – constancy and inexhaustibility of forest use.
