Archival sources about the activity of the primary schools of Transcarpathia of the second half of the ХІХ and first half of the ХХ century

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to carry out a retrospective analysis of archival sources, which reflect the activity of the primary schools of Transcarpathia in the second half of XIX - the first half of the XX century. The method of the study – the content analysis of the archival materials (of the curricula, programs, textbooks, lesson schedules, class journals) in order to identify retro peculiarities of the organization and content of the activity of the Transcarpathian primary school; chronological, retrospective logical and system analysis - as a basis for studying the organization and management of the activity of the primary school of Transcarpathia in the context of historical and systemic educational transformations; historical and comparative analysis - to identify the trends in the regional development of the primary school. Here are the research results and scientific novelty. Having analyzed the documentary and factual materials of State Archives of the Transcarpathian region we can distinguish the following groups of documents: 1) regulatory acts (laws, circulars, prescripts, orders that were issued by the Ministry and the regional Department of Education, etc.); 2) reporting information (statistical data about the number of schools, pupils, teachers and pedagogical reports); 3) the curricula and programs of the primary schools; 4) materials of the work of the teacher's seminars, circles, conferences, congresses, organization of teacher training courses; 5) the personal affairs of pupils and teachers. The study of these documents allows to investigate systematically and thoroughly the process of formation and development of the primary schools in Transcarpathia of the second half of the XIX - the first half of the XX century gives an opportunity to characterize the organization of the educational process and the content of the primary education at various historical stages. Here is the practical significance of the study. Materials for publication, its main provisions and conclusions can be used during the teaching of such disciplines as: "History of Pedagogy", "Pedagogy", "Comparative Pedagogy", and they also can be used to write the scientific historical and pedagogical studies.
