Abstract

To become proficient in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is an integral part of training of future international economists. This paper analyzes and defines the conditions of formation of foreign language discourse competence in writing. The aim of the article is to study prerequisites and specific features of teaching professional English writing. Methods.The ideas of different scientists have been highlighted to analyze the existing scientific concepts concerning prerequisites and speficities of teaching future international economists‘ foreign language discourse competence in writing. Author determined and characterized a range of techniques and forms that are effective in the implementation of conditions of formation of discourse competence in writing. Results.It should also be noted that writing is seen as a form of speech activity, which from the point of view of quantity and content of its phases, has a very significant difference compared to all other types of speech activity. It includes four main stages: planning, drafting, revising, and editing. Thus, to form professionally oriented scientific writing skillsit is necessary to go through such stages as pre-writing, writing, revision, and editing. Conclusion. Discourse competence in written discourse refers to the appropriate use of linguistic resources and rhetorical strategies that allow effective communication in specific contexts according to both the purpose of the text and the expectations of the target audience.
