Abstract
Black ginger or Kaempferia parviβlora is one useful medicinal plant that urgesthe need to be cultivated widely. This plant has some previous studies abouttheir rhizomes and callus growth optimization, but their total phenolic contentand antioxidant activities are not very well known. This study aims to studythe total phenolic content and antioxidant activities of callus of K.parviβlora.This study is to determine the type and concentration of hormone that givethe best effect on the growth of callus in vitro culture from different parts(meristem, andbasalpart)ofK.parviβlora. Differentconcentrationsweretestedwithmedium2,4-dichlorophenoxyaceticacid(2,4-D)andnapthyleneaceticacid(NAA) in callus cultivation. The highest total phenolic content tested in callusis one with 10.00 mg/L 2,4-D from the meristem part of the plant. The highestantioxidantactivityisfromthemeristempartoftheplantwith5.00mg/L2,4-D.
