Limiting functions of locative case in Ukrainian proverbs

The article deals with syntaxemic functions of prepositive locative forms in the structure of Ukrainian proverbs. The choice of the theme is due to the fact that the prepositional components in many proverbs play a decisive role in giving them aphoristic and figurative meaning. This is due to the acquisition of many prepositive syntaxemas some features of determinants or, in another terminology, topics that limit the sphere of opinions' fairness expressed by predicative basis. In accordance with the aim of the article forms of locative case are described in the structure of Ukrainian proverbs. These forms in the proverbs show not all the syntaxemic functions inherent them in the language. Further analysis of the prepositive syntaxemas was aimed at fixing their function of determinants (topics).This function allows to prepositive syntaxemas to limit the sphere of opinions' fairness that predicate basis of proverbs creates. The article defines the real and potential possibilities of syntaxemas, expressed by forms of the locative case, to the acquisition of the properties of the determinant (topical), as well as the syntactic factors that hinder this process are outlined. The most frequent reason that interferes with the appearance in forms of locative case functions of determinant (topical) is that they can perform another function – the function of the semantically binding component of the sentence. The article introduces a new approach to the description of Ukrainian paremias, its results are important for explaining the aphoristic proverbs, they open prospects for comparative and typological research. Restrictive syntaxemas have specific semantic syntactic properties that do not allow them to use traditional methods of parsing. In the article is find theoretical base for interpretation restrictive syntaxemas in the structure of Ukrainian proverbs.
