Economic education of children and adults on western Ukrainian areas in pedagogical theory: retrospective view

Abstract

The historical and pedagogical aspect of the definition and content load of the concepts "children", "adults", "economic education", "western Ukrainian lands", "adult education" is considered. The validity of our study of the problem of economic education of children and adults in Western Ukrainian lands in the pedagogical theory of the nineteenth - early twentieth centuries is confirmed by the complex application of interrelated research methods, which became the basis for formulating conclusions and determining the possibilities of using the historical experience of economic life. The purpose of the article is to explore the problems of economic education of children and adults in Western Ukrainian lands in the pedagogical theory of the nineteenth – first half of the twentieth centuries. The problems of economic education of children and adults in the western lands of the XIX – early XX centuries were relevant and adequately reflected in the pedagogical theory and practice of scientists of this period. For the first time in the national pedagogical science a holistic analysis of the development of economic education of children and adults in the Western Ukrainian lands of the XIX – early XX centuries was carried out, the essence of the concepts of "education", "economic education", "children", "adults", "adult education" pedagogical phenomena. In the western Ukrainian lands of the 19th – beginning of the 20th centuries, teachers, cultural and educational figures, economists searched for theoretical definitions of the problem of "economic education of children and adults" in the line of European tradition and on the basis of national peculiarities. Prospects for further research need problems: development of economic education of children and adults in the context of multicultural educational space, theory of economic education of adults (andragogics) in the conditions of market economy and unemployment, contribution of pedagogical thought of Ukraine to the theory and practice of economic education of children and adults.
