Peculiarities of future religion teachers professional training in Austria

Abstract

The ways of preparing teachers of religion for secondary schools in Austria have been analyzed in the article, the important role of close cooperation between state and church higher educational institutions in improving the Austrian educational system and improving the qualifications of teachers of religious and pedagogical direction has been disclosed. The close cooperation between the Austrian state and the church in the field of education was based on a number of agreements between the government and representatives of the Catholic Church. The concluded agreements between the state and the church allowed the creation of educational institutions for the religious education of youth and the professional training of the corresponding pedagogical personnel. Church is responsible for the admission of qualified, responsible and highly moral teachers, as churches have their own institutions that control the teaching of religion and teacher training in schools of its episcopacy. The teachers of religion working in public education institutions and accounted for first and second state examinations are members of the church and want to spread religion, have the opportunity to be trained in church theologically and educational institutions for postgraduate education (Nachqualifikationskurs), which organized the job. Many graduates of the Theological Faculty in future work in the field of education as teachers of religion in school institutions, theological and educational representatives in church institutions, who help as academic assistants to pastors in institutes in improvement of teaching staff involved in research work and current research in religious and theological direction. Some students studying theology and religious pedagogy of religious belief want to link their future profession with faith and the education of the Christian tradition, some only want to receive a second diploma in the subject religious Courses, considering it "easy" and "available" subject.
