Abstract
The Indian Railways network ranks fourth largest railway network in the world, spreading over 1,15,000 km in distance, all over India. Its motto is "the lifeline of the country", and the main transport is completed by the railways of the country. Today's rail systems involve conventional methods of track maintenance similar to the 3-tier track system and traditional batter packing methods. To avoid accidents, safety components are more necessary. In the past, rail cracks were identified as the main cause of the derailment, but there is no cheap solution available for testing and maintenance purposes to reduce inspection time. The paper aims to implement rail maintenance strategies with the help of Failure Mode Effect Analysis.
