Formation and development of custom in Russian law

The article presents the formation and development of the custom of business turnover in domestic law. It is emphasized that custom is the most ancient source of law, known since the time of Ancient Rome from the Laws of the XII Tables and the Institutions of Guy. The author, relying on the norms of Russian civil legislation relating to different historical periods, analyzes the experience of using customs at different stages of the development of domestic legislation. In conclusion, the author comes to the conclusion that custom as a tool for regulating civil law relations has not lost its significance at the present time.
