Abstract
Childbirth is an important period in human life. Indeed, childbirth bring lots of happiness and joy to the parents and family. Childbirth is known as most valuable event in Uzbek people in Takhar province, Afghanistan. In Uzbek society, the childbirth is known as the continuation of the generation, successor of the heritage and source of esteem in society. This study was conducted to determine and evaluate the beliefs, customs and tradition of childbirth in Uzbek society. Generally, the research is based on folkloric materials including face-toface interview with local people in the study area. This is important to be mention that there was some similarity in customs and traditional beliefs between Uzbek people of Takhar and Turk nation in Turkey. It was founded that some folklore is still retain its value but some traditions are going to be disappear or already disappeared. In addition, prayers, verses and applause related to birth customs and beliefs are still remaining in the society.
