Abstract
The economic growth of any country is directly dependent on its infrastructure and industries. But Byproducts produced from the industries especially waste materials cause a number of environmental issues however these byproducts can be efficiently utilized in the construction industry in large quantities if they satisfy the standards specifications as a construction material. Aluminium Refinery Residue (ARR) is fine material, alkaline and complex residue from the aluminium industry, stored with a lot of precaution to avoid environmental contamination. The laboratory/experimental investigation deals with the stabilization of Aluminium Refinery Residue (ARR) with 25% GGBS and alkali solution. A set of standard geotechnical Lab investigations has been done to find its compatibility as one of the materials in road construction. When comparing the strength of stabilised Aluminium Refinery Residue (ARR) cured for 0 days with 7, and 28 days the strength upsurges to 81%, 248 % at standard proctor density and to 160 per cent, and 439 per cent at modified proctor density, respectively. The stabilised Aluminium Refinery Residue (ARR) Specimens pass all 12 sets of the wetting and drying, Freezing and Thawing tests by a weight loss not exceeding 14%, confirms, Aluminium Refinery Residue (ARR) that has been stabilised can be utilised as a road construction material.
