Abstract
The article deals with the problem of motives in literature critical
studies. The author highlights the theoretical background of motives. The article covers the analysis of the stories written by Evelyn Waugh “Out of Depth” and Abdulla Kahhor “Prophecy”. The author attempts to show similarities and differences the authors' writing styles in these short stories. Furthermore, the description of the artistic skills and writing skills of both writers is given in the article.
