Abstract

Panic attacks are unfounded fears and concerns manifested by a racing heart, rapid breathing, and perspiration. As a result of their fear of these episodes, some individuals develop panic disorder, which is a type of anxiety illness. The main causes of panic disorder have been related to, among other things, heredity, thyroid gland malfunction, low blood sugar levels, depression, phobias, and post-traumatic experiences. Although the neurotransmitter systems of norepinephrine, serotonin, dopamine, and gammaaminobutyric acid (GABA) are thought to play a key role in all of the instances. Malfunctions in their relese, uptake, extracellular accumulation and their lack of central regulation are attributed to this disorder. The fact that psychoactive drugs that affect these neurotransmitter systems have a major influence on the pathophysiology of this condition justifies this. Antidepressants, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), and benzodiazepines, are presently suggested as first-line therapy for this condition. However, correct drug commencement, right dose, proper length and consistency of use, and eventually gradual withdrawal are the most important factors to consider while administering these medicines Unfortunately, both clinicians and patients frequently neglect all of these aspects, resulting in persistent cases of this illness due to insufficient neurotransmitter activation. These medicines cause an exaggeration of symptoms at first, followed by the development of withdrawal syndrome. For these medications to generate a stable corelation neurochemistry, they require a precise administration trend as well as a specified duration. As a result, the precise beginning, duration, and discontinuation of these medicines are critical elements that patients must be cognizant of before using antidepressants.
