Abstract

As people age, naturally, they start to not be comfortable with bathing. The close carer can experience challenges during the bathing for aging parents, but also can ease these complications with retrieving the care their parents gave them when they were toddlers. Therefore, this paper investigates the difficulties and list the complications facing the close carers towards this bathing process and expose them to exploit the opportunities and the techniques that could help alter breakthroughs or reduce their fear and anxiety towards such process. The paper comes in a time where dementia is foresighted to hit more than 152 million humans by 2050. The case study presented by the author shows the importance of using multidisciplinary thinking and problem-solving approaches always by the close carers, besides considering the history of the aging parent during the exercise for bathing. More focus is drawn for cases of the parent with dementia where extra challenges need to be overcomed.
