Abstract
This paper provides an overview of India's traditional and green energy scenarios. The words Consumption, Output, and Supply are all well-known. Traditional energy sources, such as coal and mineral oil-based power plants, account for the majority of power production in India, contributing significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. The installation of modern power plants is inextricably linked to the importation of extremely volatile fossil fuels. As a result, it is critical to address the energy shortage by making efficient use of plentiful sustainable energy options such as biomass, solar, wind, geothermal, and ocean energy. In India, the last 25 years have seen an avalanche of activities related to science, growth, manufacturing, and demonstration. India has also secured approval for the usage of a range of clean energy resources in various industries. The existing state of renewable energy in India, as well as key milestones and potential prospects, are presented in this article. This paper also includes an assessment of existing energy strategies for overcoming roadblocks and introducing renewables in the future. The primary goal of renewable energy deployment in India is to promote economic growth, strengthen energy efficiency, increase energy access, and reduce climate change. Sustainable growth will be achieved by the usage of renewable energies and maintaining residents' access to affordable, secure, sustainable, and modern energy. India has risen to become one of the world's most promising clean energy markets, thanks to strong government funding and an improving economic condition. Energy harvesting that is clean and environmentally safe is a hot topic right now since it is one of the main enablers in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as accelerating social change and raising living standards. India, the world's second-most populated country with 1.353 billion people, is one of the world's biggest users of fossil fuels, contributing to global warming. Up until 2050, an everincreasing population is anticipated, and as a result, energy demand would be accelerated by rapid economic development in the coming decades. With the support of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is working to meet the Indian government's target of 175 GW of renewable energy resources. In order to meet potential electricity demand, several Indian states are currently growing their renewable energy capability. The study paper delves into the three Indian states of Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu, which are leaders in renewable energy development in the country.
