Abstract

In the area of education, data mining is particularly helpful when analysing actions in an online learning context. This is attributed to data mining's ability to analyse and reveal secret facts inside the data itself, which is difficult and time-consuming to do manually. The aim of this study is to look at how prior scholars have approached data mining and the more recent developments in data mining in educational science. Several shortcomings of previous studies are addressed, as well as several potential research paths. Data mining applications and strategies are being used by businesses to produce market insight and improve decision-making. Data mining methods are being used by educational organisations to improve their facilities and increase student grades and retention. This paper discusses the various ways in which educational data mining can be used in e-learning. The following are the application fields explored in this paper: • Modeling of users • User profiling or user aggregation • Domain modelling and • Trend analysis are two of the most important aspects of domain modelling. This aids students, policymakers, and managers in comprehending how instructional data mining aids decision-making in the classroom. Three Tamilnadu schools have developed and adopted a Maths Tutor for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. For the above-mentioned regions, student data is collected and analysed. This aids students, policymakers, and managers in comprehending how instructional data mining aids decision-making in the classroom.
