Abstract
Urbanization in India is growing exponentially as an upshot of Globalization and economic development. It has, of course, long been recognized that certain diseases become more readily acclimatized and thrive better in some parts of the world than others. The type of skin problems varies in different geographical areas, climate, economic and other factors including personal characteristics such as age and sex. Despite offering many opportunities, including potential access to better health care, today’s urban environment has posed potential health risks and introduced new hazards. Among various health risks allergic skin disorders is a major problem encountered by the urban people. The current study aims at widening the scope of understanding factors potentiating the spread of skin diseases from the perspectives of medical geography through studying the geographic distribution of skin diseases.
