CONCEPTUAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL REVIEW OF KUPIPAKVA RASAYANA

Rasashastra basically deals with the pharmaceutics of drugs of mineral and metallic origin, along with their occurrence, varieties, organoleptic characteristics and physical properties. In Rasashastra, Kupipakva Rasayana holds its unique importance as compared to other formulations due to its miraculous effects on dreadful and chronic ailments, rapid action and low dose. The practical experience of preparation of medicines from raw drug is most important in Rasashastra. Kupipakva Rasayana Nirman is considered as one of the tedious procedure in Rasashastra. In this study, History, etimyology, definitions, types, preparatory procedures, instruments used during kupipakva Rasayana preparation are reviewed through different Rasagranthas and are discussed in detail. In this study concept of Kupipakva Rasayana is elaborated and various pharmaceutical procedures of kupipakva is discussed in detail. This study will definitely prove to be helpful in conceptual understanding of Kupipakva Rasayana and encourage scholars in its preparation.
