Abstract

Introduction. The article analyzes a retrospective development of the organization of educational work in secondary schools in Great Britain. The profound changes from the 16th century to the present day are analyzed, transforming both public and private family life of the British, introduced into the culture of Great Britain not only as a gentleman, but also as a lady. The views on the education of the outstanding pedagogical figures figures J. Locke, E. Bell and J. Lancaster, R. Owen, T. Arnold, J. Bedley, S. Reddy and others are revealed. Victorian London has been characterized as a period of high morals and family cults. Purpose. Highlighted the retrospective development of the organization of educational work in secondary schools in the UK. Methods. To reach the goal, the following study methods and techniques were used: theoretical (analysis of philosophical, pedagogical, psychological literature), which allows to substantiate the starting points of the study; interpretive-analytical method, on the basis of which sources are studied using synthesis, analysis, systematization and generalization; method of comparative-historical analysis, which allowed to identify tendencies in this problem. Results. Assessing the various options for solving the problem of cooperation between family and school in English pedagogy, it should be noted that the most acceptable and practical proposal is to balance the school-family influence in the upbringing of children. As the child grows up, the school should take more responsibility for raising children, because parents are not able to pay proper attention to the child due to objective reasons, such as work. But even in high school, parental participation, as a necessary condition for the moral development of children must remain active, constant and interested. Conclusion. The main task of the English education system is the education of a strong and independent character, the ability to analyze and draw conclusions. In any situation, even with the slightest success, the child is praised, thereby encouraging to new achievements.
