Abstract
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) defines retail investor, whose total investment in equity market is not more than Rs. 2 lakhs per year. This works out almost USD 3200 at current exchange rate of INR 1= USD 0.015. According to World Bank reports, the gross national income per capita income in India in 2016 was USD 6490 (PPP) and gross domestic product (GDP) per capita was USD 1974.76 in 2017.
