Abstract

People all over the world are turning to clean and green renewable energy sources to minimize their reliance on fossil fuels and other non-renewable energy sources for electricity generation. Wind is one such resource that, when used instead of fossil-fuelgenerated power, can minimize harmful environmental emissions. The idea is to use the high wind speeds produced when a metro train enters a platform and convert it into electrical energy using Vertical Axis Wind turbines. This wind energy which is available abundantly throughout the large circuit of Delhi Metro, which would otherwise go to waste, can be utilized to create and supplement the nation's growing demand for clean, green, and affordable electricity, as well as to help the economy. In this paper we will be discussing the design of our Vertical Axis Wind Turbine which we will be installing at the ends of the metro platform and analyze how much power can be generated.
