Abstract
It is known that endoscopists are strongly exposed to aerolization during endoscopic procedures and therefore subject to high levels of contamination by the Corona Virus. This procedure was developed by an endoscopy team, which works in a referral hospital for dealing with the pandemic, in southern Brazil. The technique consists of using a surgical mask on the patient, during the endoscopic procedure, preventing aerolization, as well as the use of gauze, sealing the mouthpiece, when removing the device. It is important to emphasize that this is a complementary technique to the recommendations of the Brazilian Society of Endoscopy, which already has a specific rule for this condition.
