Abstract
This article analyzes the Russian media market. In addition to perfect competition between newspa- pers and magazines, one can find signs of an oligopoly of publishing houses. The trends of monopolization and globalization bring their own changes to the work of the printed press. This work compares different sources on the development of the media in the country in order to identify the most accurate model for the existence of the media business
